Meet the Executive Director

 

Michael A. Wilson was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He attended both Pershing and Mackenzie High Schools. Michael graduated from Mackenzie High in 1974, excelling in Sports, most notably Football and Baseball. In 1976 he was selected in the Winter Professional Baseball Draft by the Detroit Tigers. Michael spent the next five years playing Minor League Pro Baseball with the Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, and the San Luis Blue Jays in the Mexican league. After changing his permanent residency to Southern California in 1976, Michael continued to pursue his undergrad Education by achieving an Associates Degree in Computer Science from Long Beach C.C., and a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies from the University of California at Riverside.

 

Business Career

Michael was Co-Founder and Vice President of Wisdom Tree Inc., the largest manufacturer of Electronic Religious Products in the World. Wisdom Tree is the only Manufacturer and Publisher of Bible Based Video games for play on the original Nintendo, Game Boy, and Sega Genesis video game systems.
 
Michael worked for 10 years for the University of California, Riverside as Manager of the Campus Computer Labs, Computer Store, and as Associate Director of the Bookstore. He spent 21 years in Southern California before returning to Detroit in 1997 to take care of his mother (diagnosed w/diabetes and heart disease) and to fulfill the call and purpose that God had on his life. While in California, Michael was ordained as a Minister in 1991 and worked as a Youth Pastor for 5 years. He organized neighborhood Bible Study sessions for At -Risk youth in Riverside County, California and counseled juvenile youth at The San Bernardino Youth Authority Center. Michael also spent 5 years as a volunteer at the California Rehabilitation Center Prison.
 
 

Abundant Care Training Services

 
After returning to Detroit in 1997, Michael went to work for DaimlerChrysler as a Production and Quality Supervisor. He left DaimlerChrysler after six years of service to fulfill the vision God gave him to launch ACTS (Abundant Care Training Services) a Non-Profit, Positive Youth Development Organization for At-Risk youth in the city of Detroit. Currently Michael is an Elder and serves on the Men’s Board at Intercessions Word Ministry in Royal Oak, Michigan. He serves as President of the Board of Governors for the Friends of Mackenzie Alumni Association, and received the 2003 Richard Frankowski Humanitarian Award in recognition of his efforts to help raise funds for student scholarships, sports uniforms, and equipment.  Michael served as Head Coach of the Mackenzie High Baseball Team for 3 years, (2003 - 05). He also serves on the Board of Advisors for MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). Michael has mentored and counseled young men for over 25 years. He has a strong desire to reverse the fate of underprivileged Detroit youth and those that exist in fatherless households. His motto and indigenous challenge to his colleagues is to learn, earn, and return!
 

The Family

 
Michael has been happily married to the wife of his youth, Margaret, for over 28 years. They have one son, Matthew, currently 21 years of age.
